TASK: to create an installation in the building of the faculty of architecture of VGTU with a concept connected to the building or the faculty itself. Furthermore, the project was supposed to change the space or attract attention to invisible or unused parts of the faculty.
CONCEPT: the idea behind my installation was that individuals with no strong personal identification features or backgrounds disappear for others throughout the time. People become indifferent towards the one who is not identified with his/her personal life or activities and therefore forget them easily.
The work is dedicated to foreigners coming as exchange students in the faculty. Most of international students have difficulties to integrate with Lithuanians and isolate themselves. For that reason soon after their departure they are forgotten.
LOCATION: the installation was located on the staircase of the faculty; i used dynamics of moving up on the stairs to represent time.
The first image of a figure is colorful and sharp; the next image is black and white; after that higher one goes, less obvious the image gets until it completely disappears.
*If usually students preferred using elevator than climbing stairs, the installation changed their habit and pushed them to make their trip on stairs until the last floor in order to see the full project.
The process of my installation - a lot of cutting, measuring and sticking... Without my friends it would be extremely taught to make it happen, giant thanks to all of them!!!
